Welcome to the KNOW HOW - the Touring Network's online library of advice for all those involved in rural touring.
As a Network that’s been around for 20 odd years, there’s a lot of know-how amongst our members and team.
Back in 2002, the Scottish Arts Council commissioned PAN* and Duncan MacInnes to write a guide to rural promoting called Don’t Panic. This publication placed the collective knowledge of promoting in a clear and concise format, and has been a key reference tool for new and existing promoters throughout the UK for the past 16 years.
A lot has changed in those 16 years though, and that’s why we’ve been working to review and update the content, alongside creating other resources on best practice, with the aim of launching an online library of searchable snippets of advice for all those involved in rural touring.
And here it is! The first phase of the KNOW HOW is now available for Touring Network members to access, with further content to follow.
Huge thanks to the whole team at The Touring Network (past and present) for their input into this living, breathing library of knowledge.
*The Touring Network was previously known as PAN (the Promoters Arts Network) and Duncan MacInnes is still a promoter on Skye.
